Calling all owners and grantors of LPOSC-conserved properties! Join us for a special event – the Landowner Appreciation Picnic on Saturday, August 10, from 4 to 7 pm. We’ll gather at the beautiful Rockin’ M Ranch at the end of Lightner Creek Road to enjoy hotdogs, hamburgers, and great company. Landowners are welcome to bring their friends and families. While not required, you are encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert to share. Please leave your pets at home. We look forward to celebrating with you! Site address provided upon RSVP.
LPOSC is grateful once again to be the beneficiary of Ska Brewing’s Anniversary Party and Brewer’s Invitational. Come enjoy beers from 30+ different breweries and dancing with live music from Save Ferris and special guests The Toasters!

Please join LPOSC for a wonderful firefly viewing party and dinner on Friday, June 28th. The viewing party will be generously hosted by Jerry and Karen Zink on their conserved property, Sunnyside Farm. Fireflies only appear in Southwest Colorado for a few weeks each year, so this gathering will provide a unique opportunity to view the fireflies before they leave in late July while enjoying food, drinks, and good company.
Tickets are priced at $100 per person, with the added perk of returning with children and guests to the property on evenings from June 29 to July 5. Your purchase confirmation email will contain additional details about later visits.
What to bring: layered clothing, a chair or blanket to sit on, and footwear that can get wet.
Space is limited! Tickets will sell fast, purchase yours today! Event address will be provided upon ticket purchase. All proceeds support LPOSC’s efforts to conserve land and water in Southwest Colorado, like this unique wetland firefly haven.
Fireflies in Colorado? Yes, it’s true – check out this Colorado Sun article about the relatively rare Western populations.
